John Beauclerk returned to Vilcabamba three decades after his first discoveries in the forested hills to which the last Incas retreated after the Spanish Conquest.  In a gruelling but sometimes amusing solo expedition from the Apurimac to the Urubamba, he discovered two new Inca sites known only to indigenous people.
