John Hemming describes thrilling recent research about the Incas’ architectural legacy. More has been learned about how the Incas quarried, transported and cut their incomparable stonework. There have been new interpretations of the function of these buildings – as royal estates, administrative centres, astronomical observations or shrines related to natural phenomena. And there have been fine discoveries, excavations and restorations of these beautiful sites.
