PERU & GREAT BRITAIN: A HISTORY IN COMMON

Venue: Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, South Kensington, London SW7 2AR

The Anglo Peruvian Society, the Embassy of Peru in the UK and the British Peruvian Cultural Association cordially invite you to attend this event, exclusively arranged for Anglo Peruvian Society members and friends.

This book, edited by distinguished Peruvian academic Mauricio Novoa, brings together some of Peru’s leading thinkers and historians who describe the ties between Peru and Great Britain that have existed since Peru’s Independence in 1821.

We’re privileged to be able to hold this private gathering and hope you will join us in what will certainly be an evening to be remembered.

Tickets are free of charge and must be booked via Eventbrite here

This book presents an historical approach to the British presence in Peru with up to now unpublished material that brings together documents, oral stories rescued from oblivion, as well as original paintings and photographs from the period.

It includes the British participation in the wars of Peruvian independence narrated through notes drawn from diplomatic exchanges in the nineteenth century, and from a sporting and social viewpoint how the British influenced even the development of football in Peru.
