Anglo Peruvian Society talk by Emil Alzamora, Sculptor

Emil Alzamora was born in Lima, Peru in 1975. His father is English and his Michigan born mother (her mother was from Ann Arbor) was raised in Peru. In 1961, Alzamora’s maternal grandfather, Victor Alzamora Castro, helped to establish the Cayetano Heredia University. Alzamora left Peru at the age of two with his mother and older brother. He has a strong cultural tie to the nation through his mother and through multiple visits during his childhood which was split between Mallorca, Spain and Boca Grande, Florida.

Emil Alzamora currently resides in Beacon, NY where he has worked as an artist for over 20 years, exhibiting both nationally and internationally and has many works in both private and public collections. His focus has been primarily sculpture accompanied by a prolific drawing and painting practice. This presentation will emphasize inspiration and process and will highlight examples of finished artworks.
